It’s always fun to spend an evening with enthusiastic  literary types at a launch celebrating a new addition to quality literature for kids. Last night was such an occasion at Pamela McDowell’s party for her most recent animal rescue, early chapter book, Bats in Trouble.  Who knew how interesting and highly misunderstood bats are, and how much our wind farms are putting them at risk? Well done, Pamela! What a great opportunity to begin a collection of signed books for my  granddaughter. She just turned seven months old, so I don’t think she’ll mind if I read them first!

On the way to the launch, I picked up another gifted author, Shenaaz Nanji, and scored a copy of her newly released novel about the young camel jockeys, Ghost Boys. I can’t wait for her launch on November 5th.

Eric Walters novel, The Rule of Three has a bit more heft to it, so it’s unlikely I’ll get it finished this weekend, but as you can tell, I’m planning on a wonderful, readerly weekend. Obviously, I’ve fallen behind in my Canadian Young Adult novels because this baby won the Red Maple Award in 2015!

Happy Weekend! I hope you find something inspiring to read!
