Bad Bunny Marble – The Adventure Begins

One of the joys of raising children is that you get to have pets.  Not that you have to have a child to own a pet.  It’s just that if you do have children, it’s virtually impossible not to have one.  When I raised my son, we went for the beautiful, obedient, Sheltie.   Yes, she DID have a lot of hair, which she shed constantly. And yes, she DID get cold feet and refuse to walk in the snow in the winter. But she loved us and was eager to obey and we loved her and were eager to obey.  Fast forward a few years, and I am now raising a daughter (Apparently, I did not wish to experience an empty nest.), who desperately wanted a dog or cat for a pet.  BUT, one thing I learned from my first shot at parenting, is that regardless of any promises made about cleaning up, picking up, waking up, etc, etc, it is ALWAYS the mom who gets left with pet duty. Children grow up, they play sports, piano, take dance lessons, have homework, have friends. It’s true. Children are FAR too busy to take care of a pet past the first week mark (if you’re lucky.) So, this time I decided on a bunny for the family pet. A bunny is quiet, he can be litter trained, he can stay in a cage when you go away and not suffer depression. He won’t destroy your yard.  Perfect! We brought home a silky, chocolate-coloured polish bunny who weighs three pounds. Perfect. My daughter named him Marble because of his large, round, marble-like eyes.  Perfect. Okay, so he was only perfect until we got him home. But he’s still cute and still quiet. To find out if you would like a pet bunny, check next Monday for the first in the adventures of Bad Bunny Marble.
